We are extremely glad to share with you that the Summer School “Protection of Ethnic Minorities” has just started. As in the previous years, the Summer School is jointly organized by Europa-Institut / Saarland University and the South East European Law School Network (SEELS) with a financial support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
This year we are on the seaside in Durrës, Albania, along with 18 students from SEELS’ members and Europa-Institut. The lectures are being delivered by academics from the same institutions as well, however, we also have lecturer from the Faculty of Law / Mykolas Romeris University from Lithuania. The School is generally dealing with minority rights, including several issues: the concept of Multiculturalism and the right of participation, international regimes for protection of minorities; definition of minorities; Anti-discrimination for minorities and protection of minorities in the different countries; hate crimes and hate speech; the UN regime for protection of minorities; the case law of the European Court of Human Rights; the CoE and EU frameworks etc.
We are hoping to keep up the good spirit and the working atmosphere.
