We are glad to inform all interested applicants that the Call for Papers for the upcoming Winter Issue of the SEE Law Journal is active now till November 1, 2023.

With the new Editorial Policy of the Journal, the Call for Papers are now fixed and two editions of the journal are set to be published in summer and winter months each year.

The journal is open to submissions by all interested academics and researchers, PhD students and legal practitioners.

Papers from all areas of law are accepted, esspecially the ones with a focus on:

• Legal reform and approximation of the acquis communitaire
• Best practicess in legal reform 
• Harmonization and unification of the legislationin the region of South East Europe, the EU and internationally.

Centre for SEELS in collaboration with Europa Institut are announcing a Call for Application for the upcoming summer school "New Challenges for European Integration – Ukrainian War and its implications for the European Union and the Western Balkans" which is to be held in Faculty of Law in Split, Croatia, from 03 to 09 September 2023. 

The summer school is being organized within the framework of the project “New Challenges for European Integration - Ukrainian War and its implications for the European Union and the Western Balkans”, by the SEELS network faculties and the Europa-Institut of Saarland University (Germany), and it is financially supported by DAAD and Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

The summer school is aiming to introduce students and young academics to the new challenges for European Integration due to the Russo-Ukrainian War and its implications for the European Union and the Western Balkans. On this event a special emphasis will be put on the EU accession process and the EU neighbourhood policy. After completing the courses, the participants are expected to be more aware of the topic and more capable to recognise deficiencies and defuse situations through knowledge of the legal framework, and in particular to understand the complexity of the EU accession process.

The Call is oppened for PhD and Master students comming from the member faculties of SEELS network and Saarland University, Germany. The deadlne for application is  2^nd of July 2023 at 23:59 CET.

We are glad to invite all interested experts dealing with Gender Equality and Human Rights to consider applying the call for experts published by our colleagues from  Council of Europe for the regional project ”Women’s Access to Justice in the Western Balkans”, which is being implemented in the framework of the European Union and Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye - Phase III.

More specifically this call for local experts and researchers, is focused on capacity building and awareness raising on topics related to gender equality and women’s access to justice.

The aim of the project is to strengthen access to justice for women, especially women victims of violence in line with the standards of the Council of Europe Istanbul Convention and to contribute to the development of a gender sensitive justice system in the Western Balkans region.

The Council of Europe is looking for up to 27 local providers to carry out research, develop and implement comprehensive capacity building curricula and materials, and to design and implement awareness raising activities on issues related to women’s access to justice.

The event will be organized via Zoom, and all participants will be granted acces via link following the registration. 

Centre for SEELS is announcing the Call for Research stays that is open within the "New Challenges for European Integration - Ukrainian War and its implications for the European Union and the Western Balkans" project, implemented by Europa Instut and SEELS and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service.

The Call is open to all  PhD students coming from the SEELS Network, which have a PhD project in the field of European Law and/or International Law. Within the project selected PhD candidates will have the opportunity to research in the field of European and International Law at the Europa-Institut of Saarland University for one month.

Followinf the completion of the research stays, a PhD colloquium, both for the PhD candidates from South East Europe and from Germany will be organized, where the participants will be able to present their topic to senior academics and the project leader. They will also be able to visit the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg and get in contact with judges and advocate generals from Croatia.

Total number of 5 (five) research scholarships will be awarded for one month research stay in July 2023.
